Rwanda Project USVI is now accepting up to 16 students to travel to Rwanda in July - August 2012. The students will be accompanied by at least one chaperone per five students, as well as Rwandan tour operators. The applications will be received until January 15, 2012.

Requirements
Only high schools students who are at least 16 years old will be eligible for the trip, which includes any student who will be 16 years old by July 1, 2012.
All participants will be required to pay $3000 for half the trip cost, which is $6000. Of that, $1000 is for food and incidentals. This amount does not include $600 for a permit to visit the famous Rwandan Mountain Gorillas.
The $3000 may not be obtained through donations from community donors or benevolent organizations such as Rotary or Lions or community foundations.*
Scholarships are available for up to $5000. A completed Financial Statement is required for consideration.
*Rwanda Project USVI is dependent upon those donors for expenses and project costs. We ask students to raise money through jobs, their own fund raising events, church groups or parental support only.
The required documents are listed below.
- Completed application.
- 300 - 500 word essay: "Why I want to go to Rwanda to do community service work."
- Parent/Guardian permission slip.
- Two letters of reference (teacher, pastor, principal, advisor, neighbor, community leader).
- Financial information form.
